THYSSEN SCHACHTBAU is making an important contribution to the energy transition by laying two high-voltage direct current overland cables through SWS AG's existing Heilbronn rock salt mine.
Last year, we reported on how we took our first steps towards the SuedLink construction project at ARGE Schächte Heilbronn. While we laid a solid foundation for the implementation of an infrastructure project of outstanding public interest in 2024 and passed our first milestones, we are now facing the next milestone: start of the pre-sink phase.
Building on the bored piles, the shaft collar has been in place in Großgartach since April 30th, providing a view of the work to come.
The transport of machinery and equipment for preliminary excavation is currently in full swing. And the personnel for the next important phase is gradually arriving in the heart of Baden-Württemberg.
The appearance of both construction sites changes daily, as earthworks are being carried out in parallel with the civil engineering work.
The container facility in Kochendorf is fully functional and has been put into operation. The media supply, in particular the water and electricity supply, has also been completed at the site.
Only the grid-dependent power supply in Großgartach is still pending and will be completed in the coming days.
We are looking forward to the coming weeks, as the time has come to extract our first bucket.
A warm Glückauf from Heilbronn!
