South mine SKRU-2, Solikamsk – an important milestone reached – sinking work now concluded in the pre-sink of the shaft No. 1 (skip shaft).

On 18.09.2018 another key milestone was reached in the execution of this challenging freeze shaft construction project with the completion of the sinking work in the number 1 pre-sink.

The pre-sink has reached its final depth and is now being prepared for the erection of the 400-tonne headgear over the shaft. This operation will be carried out in parallel with the installation of the sinking  winches and double-drum winder, which are being supplied by our affiliate OLKO-Maschinentechnik. The main shaft sinking phase can begin once the 100-tonne sinking platform has been set up in the shaft and connected to the headgear and winding system.

The surface facilities are nearing completion. The freeze plant has been in operation since April 2018 and the two sections of freeze wall are currently being developed at both shafts and monitored using the latest fibre optic technology.

Preparations are now under way for sinking pre-sink No. 2.

The workforce on site at present numbers 203. The work is being carried out in close collaboration with the client 'PAO Uralkali' and the General Planning Institute 'OAO Galurgy'.
